Earlier today, Hasbro announced two significant additions to its leadership team. John Hight has been appointed as President of Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming, while Holly Barbacovi joins as Chief People Officer.

Barbacovi, who previously served as Vice President of Human Resources at Wizards of the Coast from 2016 to 2020, will now lead Hasbro’s global Human Resources organization, “overseeing a people and culture strategy grounded in Hasbro’s values around play to attract and retain top talent”.

“I am thrilled to welcome Holly back to Hasbro,” said Chris Cocks, managing director at Hasbro. “Those who worked alongside her at Wizards of the Coast will remember her curiosity and courageous leadership. Her pragmatic approach to human resources will be invaluable as we cultivate a dynamic work environment that promotes joy and community.”

Barbacovi joined Bungie in 2021 as the Chief People Officer and later transitioned to the role of Chief Operating Officer in March 2024.

Hight, previously serving as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Warcraft Franchise at Blizzard Entertainment, will oversee “Hasbro’s network of gaming studios and digital licensing agreements” as well as “lead strategy for Magic: The Gathering and Dungeon & Dragons” IPs.

“I admire John’s career focus on fostering community. He is a true embodiment of our mission to bring people together through play,” said Cocks. “John’s love of D&D and Magic: The Gathering, combined with his leadership in video games, will be crucial as we expand our digital offerings to deliver what our fans crave.”

Barbacovi’s move follows a trend of Bungie executives transitioning to prominent roles in other major companies. Earlier this year, Luis Villegas, who had been with Bungie for fourteen years and served as the Chief Technology Officer since December 2020, transitioned over to the parent company, Sony Interactive Entertainment, where he has since taken on the role of CTO for the content vertical.
