Bungie’s Destiny 2: Renegades introduces Heat Weapons, the Praxic Blade, and new Exotics for each class. Here’s everything revealed in the latest TWID.

Bungie just dropped a major preview for Destiny 2: Renegades, showcasing a brand-new weapon system, several new Exotics, and more details about the upcoming expansion set to launch next month. The latest This Week in Destiny (TWID) offers the first real look at how the sandbox will evolve, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest shake-ups to Destiny’s gunplay in years.

A New Type of Firepower: Heat Weapons

For the first time in Destiny’s history, Bungie is introducing an entirely new weapon family called Heat Weapons. These guns don’t use traditional magazines, instead, they draw directly from your reserves and generate heat with each shot.

Players can vent their weapons to manage overheating, and each gun comes with new stats like Heat Generated, Cooling Efficiency, and Vent Speed. If you push your weapon too far, it’ll overheat, forcing you to cool down before firing again.

Heat Weapons come in two archetypes:

  • Dynamic: High base damage, faster cooling between shots, but generate more heat.
  • Balanced: Generate much less heat per shot and can vent it much faster when fully charged.

Primary Heat Weapons even deal bonus damage to powerful enemies, and Bungie says they’ll tie into new perks, subclass abilities, and even some Exotic armor pieces, opening the door to completely new build synergies.

The Praxic Blade and Other Exotic Gear

The trailer also showcased several new Exotics that Guardians can look forward to collecting in Renegades.

  • Praxic Blade (Kinetic Sword): Bungie’s long-teased “Destiny lightsaber” — fast, elegant, and devastating up close.
  • Heirloom (Solar Crossbow): Fires precise, radiant bolts that can ignite enemies.
  • Fortune’s Favor (Hunter Exotic): Grants overshields and boosts weapon performance when protected.
  • Praxic Vestment (Titan Exotic): Adds a jetpack-style air move that lets Titans blast forward and blind enemies on impact.
  • Deimosuffusion (Warlock Exotic): Suspends enemies using Strand energy when deploying a Rift, while healing the user.

What’s Next for Guardians

Bungie also teased the Call to Arms event arriving next week, with Devrim Kay visiting the Tower for the first time. Players can compete in challenges, earn powerful gear, and even unlock a unique universal helmet ornament. Plus, Twitch Drops return with new shaders and an Exotic Ghost Shell up for grabs.

With Renegades around the corner, Bungie is clearly setting the stage for a big sandbox shift. Between Heat Weapons, new Exotics, and an emphasis on customization, this expansion might redefine how Guardians approach combat.
